Numerical Investigation of Dissolved Oxygen Transportation through a Coupled SWE and Streeter–Phelps Model

Dissolved oxygen (DO) reflects the self-purification ability of a water body and is also an important indicator for quantifying quality. The morphological changes in cross sections river channels will affect hydraulic conditions, distribution pollutants DO may be affected, possibly resulting local deficits pollution. To effectively predict quality, coupled model introduced this study. shallow equation (SWE) adopted to calculate hydrodynamic processes, modified Streeter–Phelps further with SWE evaluate reaeration. By applying model, mass transportation reaeration rivers are analyzed. influences sudden cross-sectional channel on identified. results reveal that certain degree expansion conducive can accelerate consumption through body’s self-purification. transport two real terrains, including mountain basin plain river, extensively investigated, indicate characteristics cause concentration form inside dead zones, while plain, fan-shaped downstream zone.
